Good value for a self-guided trip

I booked a self-guided Tour du Mont Blanc with 10Adventures after looking at a few different companies. The early bird discount they offered was a big factor in my decision. It saved me a decent amount, making the whole trip much more affordable than I expected for such an iconic trek. The route guides were free, which was a nice bonus. Overall, I felt like I got good bang for my buck.

Another great hiking trip

This was my third time booking with 10Adventures, this time for an Iceland trekking tour. Like my previous experiences, the booking process was smooth and the information provided upfront was accurate. The tour details were consistent with what I've come to expect from them, which is a good thing. They are reliable, and I appreciate that when planning an international trip. That's why I keep coming back.

Detailed review of Dolomites tour

I booked a Dolomites hiking tour through 10Adventures. The online booking system was user-friendly, and I received confirmation quickly. The pre-departure information, including packing lists and local contacts, was comprehensive and useful. Our group received the custom tour itinerary a few weeks before departure, and it was well-structured. We did have one minor issue with a hotel booking change mid-trip, but their local support contact was responsive and resolved it within a few hours. The quality of the trail maps and descriptions they provided was excellent, making self-navigation straightforward. Flights were not included, which I knew upfront, but the tour costs felt fair for the services provided. The tour difficulty was accurately described on their site. I appreciated the transparent communication throughout. I would recommend 10Adventures for their well-organized tours and helpful support.

Mostly positive, one small snag

I used 10Adventures for a walking tour in Italy. The tour itself was well-planned and the accommodations were comfortable. The free GPS trail maps were really helpful for navigation. My only minor complaint was that the initial response time from customer service to one of my questions about luggage transfers took a little longer than I hoped, about two days. Once they replied, the information was clear. Overall, a good experience and I would consider them again for future trips.

Easy to plan a Camino trip

I wanted to do the Camino de Santiago and found 10Adventures. It was pretty easy to figure out what I needed. The walking tour itinerary they gave me was straightforward. Everything went well on the trip, no major surprises. Just a good, simple way to book a walking holiday without too much fuss. I had a great time.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows if 10Adventures is legit? Seen some cool tours but never heard of them before.

A Anna S. 1 month ago
Yeah, totally legit. Used them for a cycling trip in France last year, everything went super smoothly. They're based out of Canada, I think.

They're a real company, don't worry. I booked a self-guided tour with them to the Dolomites a couple years ago. Their route guides were awesome.

How difficult are the 'moderate' hiking tours? Like, am I gonna be dying or is it manageable for someone who hikes regularly but isn't a super athlete?

D Dana Whitfield 1 month ago
Their 'moderate' is usually pretty accurate. If you hike regularly and can handle a few hours on your feet with some elevation, you should be fine. They give pretty good descriptions of the elevation gain and distance for each day.

I'd say if you can do 5-10 miles with some hills comfortably, 'moderate' is totally doable. They don't sugarcoat the descriptions, which is nice.

What's the deal with their cancellation policy? Is it super strict or pretty flexible?

R Rosa 2 months ago
It depends on the tour and how close you are to the departure date. Definitely check the specific tour's terms before booking. I had to cancel one due to an injury and got most of my money back, but it was several months out.

AFAIK, they're pretty standard with cancellations. The closer you get, the less you get back. Travel insurance is always a good idea for these kinds of trips.

Do they ever have promo codes? Or is it all just automatic discounts on the site?

S Sarah 2 months ago
Mostly automatic like early bird or group discounts. But I've gotten a random promo code in my email newsletter once or twice, so it's worth signing up for their mailing list.

Rarely for codes, mostly seasonal pricing. The best deals are usually the early bird ones though.

Thinking about a self-guided cycling tour in France. Are flights usually included in their tour prices?

O Omar Vargas 2 months ago
Nope, flights are almost never included in their tour prices. You'll have to book those separately. The tours cover accommodation, route info, sometimes gear rental, stuff like that.

J Josh 2 months ago
I've never seen flights included in any of their tour packages. It's usually just the ground arrangements.

Are the route guides they offer actually free? Or is it like, only the first page is free then you gotta pay?

B Brett H. 2 months ago
Nah, they're actually free. I've downloaded a bunch for hikes near me. They're super detailed, with maps and everything.

S Shane E. 1 month ago
Yep, totally free. Used their GPS trail maps for a few local hikes before I even considered booking a full tour. Really good quality too.

Does 10Adventures do anything for solo travelers? Like, are there single supplements or specific solo tours?

R Rosa 1 month ago
They do cater to solo travelers, but you often have to pay a single supplement for your own room. Sometimes they have specific small group tours that are good for solos if you're open to sharing. Check the tour details.
1
S Sam Beaumont 1 month ago
I've seen some of their tours that explicitly mention 'solo traveler friendly' but usually, that means paying extra for a single room. It's pretty standard for adventure travel companies though.

Thinking about a Patagonia hiking trip, how do their tours compare to something like G Adventures? Seen both and can't decide.

K Kevin G. 2 months ago
I've done trips with both! 10Adventures felt a bit more focused on the actual hiking and less on the group social stuff than G Adventures, if that makes sense. Both good though.

M Megan Reyes 2 months ago
From what I hear, 10Adventures tends to have smaller groups and more of a focus on the self-guided options. G Adventures is usually bigger groups and more fully guided, but depends on the specific tour I guess.
